Meet the Spotlight Team

At Newcastle University, we have been collaborating with the Northern England Haemato-Oncology Diagnostic Service’s Novopath laboratory and the National Pathology Imaging Co-operative (NPIC) to develop a novel AI lymphoma diagnostic triage tool. The National Institute of Health Research (NIHR i4i) supports this project.

We are working with the Haematology Oncology Diagnostics Service at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust to digitise lymph node and trephine biopsies. Our Chief Medical Advisor Dr Richard Byers is on the trust’s Clinical Entrepreneurship programme. We are also involved in various academic and clinical partnerships, giving us access to digitalised slides and diagnostic data, plus product and study design advice. These partnerships also enable us to contribute to haematopathology publications, apply for multi-partner research grants and sponsor and co-supervise PhD students.
